Dancers from the around the HSRDC area came together to help showcase and demonstrate Square Dancing to the patrons of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Saturday March 15, 2025. Mike Bramlett led the group through a short tip, exhibiting the various types of music we dance to and the beautiful, flowing rhythm that results. Mike then encouraged patrons to come up and join with the Square Dance Angels to learn some fundamental calls. In both sessions, the new dancers were able to execute “allemande left” “dosado” “left and right arm turns” “right and left grand” “right and left stars” and “Grand Squares.” A good time was had by all, evidenced by the smiling faces and the willingness to step in and join the dance. We are grateful to the HLSR for allowing us to participate in one the greatest shows around look forward to introducing more people to engage in square dancing.
