Dancer of the Year
The dancer of the year, sometimes referred to as the dance promoter of the year, is selected from nominations made by the local dance community for dancers that they feel have been exemplary in their endeavors to promote and enhance square and round dancing in the current year. The selection is made by the HSRDC board, District Directors and prior recipients of the award through secret ballot.
This year’s winners have been dancing for over 40 and 30 years, respectively. They both come from a long line of square dancers. They belong to several clubs in the area and can be seen advertising upcoming special events locally as well as state and nation – wide.
One of these dancers is a past president of HSRDC, is the Education Director, Teen Coordinator and Secretary for the Texas Teen Scholarship Fund; and is also the Program Chairman for the 75th National Square Dance Convention to be held in Waco next year.
We are proud to present the 2025 HSRDC Dancer of the Year award to Michele Russell and Sam Behrens.
