A Message of Thanks and Holiday Wishes

As our year serving as Presidents of the Houston Square and Round Dance Council comes to a close, we are filled with gratitude. It has been an honor to serve a community so rich in friendship, tradition, and generosity of spirit.

This past year reminded us that square and round dancing is about far more than figures and music. It is about connection—between clubs, callers, cuers, and dancers—and about preserving a way of life that brings joy across generations. We are deeply thankful for every volunteer, officer, and dancer who stepped forward with their time, talent, and encouragement.

The Christmas season invites reflection, gratitude, and hope. We hope this time brings you rest, laughter, and meaningful moments with family and friends. As we move into the New Year, may we continue to support one another and work together to ensure square and round dancing remains vibrant in Houston for years to come.

As we pass the baton, we are delighted to welcome Carol and Charles Thornburg as your incoming Presidents. Their long-standing commitment, steady leadership, and genuine love for square and round dancing give us great confidence in the future of our Council. We know they will serve with integrity, energy, and deep respect for the traditions and people that make HSRDC strong.

We wish each of you a Merry Christmas filled with warmth and a New Year blessed with good health, great music, and plenty of dancing.

Thank you for allowing us the honor of serving. We look forward to seeing you on the dance floor in the year ahead.

With warm thanks for the friendships, fellowship, and dancing we are blessed to share here in Houston,
Ken & Dawn Hengst
