HSRDC square dancers were busy showing off their skills and love of dancing at many events during February.
On February 11, dancers dressed in red and pink attire entertained at the Brookdale Memorial Oaks’ Annual Valentine’s event. Thank you to June Walston, exhibition coordinator, Carol Teal, caller, and all the dancers who helped make it a festive day for the Brookdale residents.

On February 14, HSRDC dancers were the featured entertainment at the Arabia Shriners 2026 Inaugural Ball. Nearly 200 Shriners attended this black-tie affair which supports the amazing care provided by Shriners Hospitals for Children. Attendees were treated to Texas-attired square dancing, and dinner and dancing to Liz Talley and her country western band.
Many thanks to Linda and Don Prendergast for coordinating HSRDC’s participation in this event, David Bearden for calling, and the dancers who helped make this exhibition an overwhelming success: Mark and Kayla Barton, Jerry and Brenda Fabian, John and Becky Hampton, Dean and Debra Haney, Everett and Colleen Harrison, Phil and Sally Henderson, Jim and Kim Lindenfeld, Bill and Patty Menger, and David and Rikki Vaughan. As an extra note, consider going to the Shriners Circus to be held in Humble and Fort Bend this summer.

“Go Texan Day” was busy for Exhibitions. Carol and Charles Thornburg participated in Bunker Hill Elementary School’s “Go Texan Days” on February 26 & 27. Coach Steven Turner taught squares, lines and rounds to 600+ Kindergarten through 5th grade students, keeping this importance part of our heritage alive.

Cathy and Curtis Heusman of KPP taught square dancing to Second Graders at the Texas Heritage LASSO program at James Williams Elementary in Katy.

Three squares from Bluebonnets, Tomball Promenaders, H-Town Squares, and Hey Lollies clubs with KO Jeanes calling entertained at the Northwest Bible Church Barn Dance. More than 300 people attended this fun event!

Many thanks to all the dancers and callers who participated in these great community events to share the joy of Square Dancing!
