The HSRDC “Steal the Banner” competition put a fun new twist on an old square dance tradition and clubs really took the challenge to heart!  The competition was introduced at the HSRDC Second Quarter Meeting in April. Thanks to John Osborne of the Hey Lollies for the great idea!  Dancers earned a “banner” (certificate) by bringing a square to another HSRDC club dance and having their certificate signed. The goal was to visit other HSRDC clubs, meet and dance with fellow dancers, and collect as many certificates as possible. Congratulations to the Hey Lollies Square Dance Club who won the competition with an impressive 31 visits to other clubs!

Congratulations to our Top Three Clubs!

🥇 1st Place – Hey Lollies Square Dance Club
🥈 2nd Place – Brazos Bottom Belles and Beaus (4B’s)
🥉 3rd Place – Tomball Promenaders Square Dance Club

Accepting the prizes for their clubs were Brenda Fabian, President of the Tomball Promenaders, Phyllis Bird, President of the Hey Lollies; and Debra Garner, President of the 4B’s.

What a great way to encourage dancers to visit other clubs, get more floor time, and make new square dance friends throughout the Houston area. Congratulations to all who participated—and especially to our winning clubs!
